Hardware customization of consumer electronics
For the Formnext 2022 trade fair, we designed a Bluetooth speaker that consists entirely of 3D-printed components. The body, in which the electronics are installed, was developed by us and 3D printed in plastic.
With the extraordinary frame, which is made of one piece, we show what metal 3D printing can be used for. Inspired by the design of typography & fonts, vertical struts are emphasized more than horizontal one, so that the wall thicknesse are designed inconsistently. In a very provocative way, we show how filigree 3D-printed geometries can be realized in stainless steel.

In cooperation with Elgato we were commissioned to design concepts for mass-customizing the products WAVE:3 and Stream Deck MK.2
with the help of 3D printing.
To represent the greatest possible modification, we changed geometries, material & Finish. The use of parametric design approaches allows customers to make modifications themselves in order to generate individual customization requests, for example using online configurators. 3D printing thus allows one-off production for products designed by the customer.
